PEE DEE, SC (WMBF) - The results are IN! WMBF News verified more than 13,000 votes to determine the winners of this year's Pee Dee's Best.

Fire damages kitchen of Florence home

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Fire crews were able to contain the fire that sparked in the kitchen of a Florence area home.

That fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. Sunday on the 1500 block of Scott Drive. the first crews on scene saw smoke pouring from the front of the house.

The blaze was quickly located in the kitchen and put out. Florence Fire spokesman and Fire Marshal Ken Carr says no one was injured and the damage was contained to the kitchen of the home.

Darlington Police seek car theft suspect

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - A stolen car has been found in Columbia, but police need your help locating the man they think took it from it's owner.

According to Darlington Police spokeswoman Sgt. Nelson, 48-year-old Norris Hudson Jr. of Darlington asked to borrow a friend's car to drive to his sister's home in Florence on April 19.

Dead, malnourished animals found at Pamplico home

PAMPLICO, SC (WMBF) - Two Florence County women are facing animal cruelty charges after authorities found dead and malnourished animals on their property.

The incident report from the Florence County Sheriff's Office says deputies assisted Environmental Services when they served arrest warrants for the ill treatment of animals to 65-year-old Lynn Schaeffer and 39-year-old Wendy Sue Desabro at their home on Harden Road.

Deputies place escaped prisoner back in custody

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An escaped prisoner is back in custody after a late-night search by sheriff's deputies and a dog team in the Pee Dee.

The Darlington County Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page around 8:37 p.m. Wednesday that a bloodhound unit was called to East McIver Road to search for an escaped prisoner.

That prisoner was 23-year-old Joshua Williams Hicks of Florence, and was reportedly still in handcuffs.

Hartsville Police release photo of shooting suspect

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Police in Hartsville have released a photo of a man they believe is responsible for two separate shootings in the city.

That man, 24-year-old Tyrez Lavor Johnson, is a black male that stands 5'8" tall and weighs around 155 pounds. He is also known as "Rex" or "T-Rex."

Hartsville city spokesman Russell Cox says Johnson is wanted in connection to two separate shootings.
